Minute's Silence Held For Tunisia Attack Victims

A national one minute of silence was held today at 12pm as a mark of respect to those who died in a terrorist attack in Tunisia last week.

Flags will also be lowered to half-mast at government buildings, military bases and embassies. Buckingham Palace will also fly its flag at half mast for an official day of mourning.

Transport for London and National Rail will have posters in its stations and will announce over PA systems to remind staff and passengers of the minute's silence, while Wimbledon is to delay play today as a mark of respect.

All 30 British people killed in the attack in Sousse last Friday (26 June) have been identified. The first inquests into their deaths are expected to begin later, with further inquests due to be opened over the weekend. Post-mortem examinations will be carried out before the bodies are released to their families.

The bodies of 17 of the British victims have now been returned to the UK. Two further flights are planned for today and Saturday, with the repatriation of the dead likely to take several days.

Other victims killed in the attack include three Irish citizens, two Germans, one Belgian, one Portuguese and one Russian national.
