Fire At Recycling Warehouse Investigated

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at a recycling warehouse in Peckham.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters attended the scene on Iberton Road where a fire had broken out in the single storey warehouse.

There were no reports of any injuries but it is understood that the building was badly damaged.

London Fire Brigade Station Manager Terry Gooding who was at the scene, said: "When we arrived there was lots of thick black smoke and flames were punching out of the window. Crews got water onto the fire very quickly and worked hard to successfully stop the fire from spreading across to the recycling plant."

Firefighters from Greenwich, Dockhead, Deptford, Peckham, New Cross and Old Kent Road fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 08:55 and the fire was under control at 10:11. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
