Four Britons Killed In Quebec Plane Crash

The Foreign Office has confirmed four Britons have been killed after a seaplane crashed during a sightseeing trip in Canada.

Five passengers and a pilot died when their Beaver aircraft crashed in woodland in Les Bergeronnes, Quebec on 23 August.

The identities of the British victims have not been released.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "Sadly, four British nationals were on board the plane that crashed in Les Bergeronnes, Canada.

"Our deepest sympathies are with their friends and family at this difficult time. Our consular officers are ready to provide assistance and we will remain in contact with Canadian authorities regarding this tragic incident."

Casualties Treated For 'Major' Incident At Leisure Centre

Around 16 people are being treated for breathing difficulties after a chemical incident at a leisure centre in Fife.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is currently attending the situation at East Sands Leisure Centre in St Andrews.

The Scottish Ambulance Service is also in attendance and is treating the leak is a 'major' incident.

There has been no fatalities.

The SFRS has committed three breathing apparatus teams in gas-tight suits to isolate the power in the plant room and search the building. Everyone has been accounted for.

There are currently 13 SFRS appliances in attendance including five pumping appliances, a control unit, an emergency support unit and a hazardous materials appliance.

Police Hunting For 'Superman' After Watch Theft

A man called 'Superman' is being sought by police following the theft of a watch from a jewellers in Nottinghamshire.

Superman Rostas, 25, entered Andrew Michaels Jewellers in Stodman Street, Newark at approximately 1.20pm on 19 June 2015.

Posing as a genuine customer, he managed to steal a high-value watch using distraction techniques before leaving the premises.

Rostas is a Romanian national with connections to the West Midlands and Birmingham areas.

Officers investigating the theft have released a CCTV in the hope it will help locate Rostas.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 491 of 19 June 2015 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Postmasters call for safeguard of rural offices
Postmasters are calling for urgent action by the government in order to safeguard rural post offices. The National Federation of Subpostmasters held a rally in London on Wednesday, while a petition of four million names was handed into 10 Downing Street. The NFSP general secretary Colin Baker warned that this was now "crunch time" for post offices.
