Two Guilty Over Acid Attack

Two men have been found guilty of an acid attack.

In the incident, which occurred in Lowestoft in August 2014, Adele Bellis had a corrosive substance thrown over her.

Bellis, 22, was at a bus shelter on London Road South at around 8.10am on 14 August 2014. She was talking to a friend on her mobile phone as she waited on a bus. A man, who was carrying a soft drink bottle, approached the bus stop. Moments later Adele felt a liquid being thrown over her and the man ran away. Emergency services were called to the scene and Adele was taken to hospital.

An investigation was then launched.

Anthony Riley, 26, a former partner of Adele, and Leon Thompson, 39, were this week found guilty by a jury of a number of offences, including conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to throw a corrosive substance.

Two other men – Jason Harrison, 28, and Daniel Marshall, 39 – had previously pleaded guilty to their involvement in the incident.
