62-Year-Old Jailed For Abusing Child

A 62-year-old man has been jailed for 14 years after being found guilty of abusing a child over an 11-year period.

Antony Gorf, formerly of Ethelbert Crescent, Cliftonville, sexually assaulted the girl on several occasions over an 11 years starting in the late 1990s.

The offences occurred while he was living in Wallers Road, Faversham.

Gorf denied the offences but was found guilty of 10 counts of sexual abuse following a trial at the Old Bailey in London on Tuesday 11 August.

He was remanded in custody until his sentencing on Tuesday 20 October and he was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Richard Brown said: "The sentence imposed on Antony Gorf reflects the seriousness of the terrible offences he committed against his innocent victim.

"I would like to pay tribute to her for the strength, courage and determination she has demonstrated in speaking out and helping to bring Gorf to justice, and also to those family and friends who have supported her throughout the investigation and trial.

"Kent Police takes all reports of historic sexual abuse seriously and I would like to assure victims that their reports will be thoroughly investigated no matter the length of time that has passed since the incident occurred."
