70 projects to share £2.5m DTI funding

Projects aimed at improving working conditions in charities, hospitals, offices and factories are to share £2.5 million from the DTI Partnership Fund, Employment Relations Minister Gerry Sutcliffe announced today.

In all, 70 projects costing a total of £5.5 million and benefiting almost a quarter of a million workers across the UK will be set up.

Announcing the latest round of winners, Gerry Sutcliffe, Employment Relations Minister, said:

"Good employers know that only by valuing people can you boost productivity and encourage innovation. Working together makes good business sense and is essential for companies and industries committed to success."

More than £9 million has been given out to over 250 projects through the Partnership Fund since it was launched in 1999.

Crossrail Boost As BAA Agree £230m Funding

DTI announce £60m technology funding boost
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has announced that 56 innovative projects, critical to boosting the economy, are to receive a £60 million boost. The projects include the development of cutting edge stem cell applications for therapeutic medicine and creating the next stage in renewable energy technology.

UK solar gets £2.2m grant boost
Energy Minister Stephen Timms today announced a further £2.2 million in funding awards for solar energy projects throughout the UK. Twenty-four projects were chosen for funding at a grant cost of just over £2.2 million resulting in almost 650kWp being directly funded in this round. (Kilowatt peak (kWp) is the maximum power output on a sunny day.

Rural bus projects gain £20m in funding
