Murdered pupil had been stabbed in the heart
The teenager who died after being involved in a fight at a Lincolnshire school had been stabbed in the heart, it has been revealed today.
The post mortem examination carried out last night established that Luke died from a single stab wound to the heart. Police are now treating the incident as murder.
Fourteen-year-old Luke Walmsley, a pupil at Birkbeck School in North Somercotes, was involved in an altercation at around 10am yesterday in one of the corridor's of the school when he was stabbed.
Teachers gave him first aid and the efforts to save his life were taken over by paramedics. The air ambulance took him to hospital at Grimsby where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
The police have said that a knife has been recovered and is being examined.
A 15-year-old boy who was arrested at the school yesterday continues to be detained at Skegness Police Station.

Shorter people are more at risk of coronary heart disease, according to a new study led by Professor Sir Nilesh Samani, British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiology and Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences. The research discovered that every 2.5 inches of change in height affects the risk of coronary heart disease by 13.5%.

Police question two schoolboys following pupil's death
It has emerged that two 14-year-old pupils at a school in Greater Manchester where 15-year-old David Sandham died yesterday will be questioned by police. The victim was involved in a fight and apparently died of a heart attack on his way to Trafford General Hospital shortly after 1pm.

£1bn is being unlocked to fund the Department of Education's free school meals commitment. The news, announced by deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, follows an announcement in September that every child in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state-funded schools will receive a free school lunch.
