10 killed in Kirkuk suicide bombing

Ten people have been killed and dozens injured following a bomb attack on a police station in the northern Iraqi town of Kirkuk this morning.

The suicide bomber drove a car close to the building before detonating an explosive device.

It has been reported that four of the dead were civilians and up to 40 people were injured in the blast. It is not known whether any coalition personnel were caught up in the explosion.

The police station suffered serious damage in the attack.

The bombing coincided with a surprise visit to Baghdad by the US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

47 die in 'senseless' Baghdad car bombing
The Foreign Secretary Jack Straw has condemned as "senseless" the detonation of a car bomb in Baghdad today which claimed the lives of at least 47 people. The bomb, which exploded in a crowded marketplace close to a police station on Haifa Street, injured around 115 people, according to reports.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Teenage Girl Arrested Over Body Find
A girl and a 41-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder after two bodies were discovered in Suffolk. Suffolk Police said that the first body was found yesterday morning at around 11am after a member of the public called police to express concern for the welfare of a woman in a flat at Victoria Street.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.
