'Special Offer' Labour slammed in Tory poster campaign
The Tories have launched a new poster campaign that will be touring the country's shopping centres over the Easter weekend – it's message; Labour taxes are on the way in 2005.
The Shadow Chancellor, Oliver Letwin, unveiled the poster today which depicts Gordon Brown sitting on a sofa beneath the heading – 'Labour's Special Offer - you won't pay until 2005'.
A van carrying the poster has set off today to tour major shopping centres in Essex, Kent, Greater London, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, the North East and the West Midlands.
Mr Letwin said that message of the poster was simply - "if Labour stay, you'll pay".
He added: "The credit card chancellor made it obvious in his credit card budget that he would rather put up taxes than control the growth in government spending.
"He may have decided not to announce these tax increases just yet, but the numbers in the small print of his Budget documents reveal that if Labour were to win a third term, taxes would go up again.
"Another five years of Labour government would bring more of the same: more taxes, and no reform of the public services."
The text of the poster reads: "Gordon Brown has just borrowed another £3 bilion. Next year he will borrow a further £33 billion. Like all borrowing, this will have to be paid back. That will mean yet more tax rises if Labour win the next election, expected in 2005. So if they stay, you'll pay."

At the end of its mission to the UK, which took place from December 4-18, the IMF published a report which also called for "prudent" management of the UK economy at a time of financial uncertainty.
