England to take on Croatia in vital Group B clash

England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has confirmed that midfielder Owen Hargreaves is fit to play in tonight's vital Group B qualifying match.

Hargreaves, who has come off the bench in the last two fixtures, was ruled out on Sunday due to a stomach illness. But Eriksson revealed today that the Bayern Munich star has recovered and will be available for selection tonight.

A knee injury to Nicky Butt has placed a greater onus on Hargreaves - a similiar type of player to Butt who can add some defensive bulk to the side.

England must come away with at least a point to qualify for a place in the quarter-finals. However, the England coach has promised that the team will not simply be playing for a draw.

During an interview earlier today, he told reporters: "I don't think we are a team who can play for a 0-0 draw. The approach must be to attack and score goals."

But Croatia have already proven that they are no pushover side following the draw against France, and confidence in the Croat camp is said to be high.

Eriksson's opposite number Otto Baric has said that England's top goal scorer Wayne Rooney, who has a fiery temperament when under pressurise, can expect some special treatment.

Italy's Pierluigi Collina will officiate at tonight's clash which begins at 7.45pm.
