Two RAF airmen die in training crash

Two RAF crew have died after their aircraft crashed during a routine training flight last night.

The two aircrew died when their T4 Canberra crashed on the runway while landing at RAF Marham, Norfolk, at about 10.30pm last night. A third crewmember was seriously injured and was airlifted to hospital.

The BBC has reported that the injured crewman was able to eject before impact. He is not thought to have sustained life-threatening injuries.

The MoD has said that a Board of Inquiry will be convened in the normal manner to investigate the cause of this tragic accident.

The T4 is a dual-control training variant to 39 Squadron's operational PR9 reconnaissance aircraft. The PR9 recently saw service in operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
