Man arrested over Scottish knife attacks

A man has been arrested in connection with a series of stabbings in Scotland, police have announced.

Strathclyde Police issued a statement to confirm that a 34-year-old man had been arrested, following a series of knife attacks in Paisley and Renfrew on Wednesday.

Five men were attacked in the apparently random incidents, including a 55-year-old man, who was attacked in Paisley High Street. He is currently in a stable condition in the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley.

Another victim, who was stabbed at the Kind Man's Pub, in Renfrew, was treated for an arm injury at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The man is currently being held in police custody. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

UK embassy in Riyadh evacuated over terror threats
The UK embassy in Riyadh has been closed today over fears that more terror attacks are on the way. In an interview with Radio Four today, the British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sir Derek Plumbly, said that the embassy would be closed to the public for a few days.

Paisley Woman's Death Is 'Suspicious'
A woman's body has been found at a house in Cowal Drive, Paisley, Renfrewshire. Police have said they are treating the death as "suspicious". At around 2.30pm on Thursday, police were called to the property where they found the woman's body. A section of the street has been closed to allow forensic officers to carry out an investigation.

Police Dig Up Pub Patio In Search For Missing Landlady
Police investigating the disappearance of a landlady in Cambridgeshire in 1997 are digging up the patio of her former pub. Deborah Steel, 37, was landlady of the Royal Standard in Ely, Cambridgeshire, when she disappeared on 28 December 1997. Police have said that Ms Steel's disappearance is now being treated as a murder investigation.

Eight People Injured In Dog Attacks
Eight people have been treated in hospital after two dogs, which escaped into a street in East Sussex, attacked them. Three of the victims received serious injuries with bites and scratches to their bodies. Five others suffered minor injuries during the attack in Marline Road in Hastings at about 21:00 on Sunday night.
