Two workmen killed in crane accident
Two workmen have been killed and another injured by the collapse of a crane at a school in Sussex.
The third workman, understood to be the driver of the crane, suffered serious injuries and has been taken to Worthing hospital for emergency treatment.
The accident at Durrington High School in Worthing occured at around 10.00 am this morning at a building site for a new special school, approximately 150 yards from the site of the main school complex.
It is believed that the accident was caused by one crane falling into another, before crushing two workmen on the ground below. A spokeswoman for Sussex Ambulance service said that the crane's cab may have offered the operator some protection.
The building site has now been closed, pending an investigation by health and safety officials.
A spokeswoman for West Sussex County Council confirmed that none of the children at the nearby Durrington High School were involved in the accident.

£1bn Towards Free School Meals
£1bn is being unlocked to fund the Department of Education's free school meals commitment. The news, announced by deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, follows an announcement in September that every child in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state-funded schools will receive a free school lunch.
