GCSE exam papers to be replaced
Around half a million GCSE exam papers are being replaced after papers were stolen from one delivery van and more were reported as ‘lost’ from another van.
The papers from the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) examination board are for exams in French, science and history.
AQA said that replacement papers are being sent out and that students will not be affected by the incidents.
AQA said that one incident was being treated as theft, after a Parcelforce van, which was carrying the papers, was stolen. The other incident is being treated as a “spillage” – meaning that the papers were ‘lost’ from another Parcelforce van.
It has been reported that both incidents happened in April and that the exam papers were to be sent to specific locations in England.
AQA said that all of the original papers that had already been sent out were being recalled in order to send out the replacements. The board also confirmed that the replacement papers would contain questions that had already been compiled for future exams.

Legal Action Launched Over English GSCE Exam
Legal action has been launched against exam regulator Ofqual and two exam boards by a group of head teachers and councils over last June’s English GCSE exam. Court papers have been served on exam boards AQA and Edexcel, detailing the case for the exams to be regraded.
