Harvey remains critical following car accident
Pop star Brian Harvey has briefly regained consciousness in hospital, following an accident in which he got crushed under the wheels of his own car.
However, the ex-singer of Nineties pop band East 17 is still in a critical condition.
Harvey, 30, sustained serious injuries after being crushed under the wheels of his own Mercedes convertible in Essex in the early hours of Tuesday morning. It is believed that he was heading to a recording studio at the time of the accident.
Police were called to the scene of the accident by paramedics around 01:53 and they are conducting an investigation.
It is thought that Harvey may have fallen out of his car, while attempting to reverse while keeping the door open to see where he was going.
Harvey suffered multiple fractures and injuries to his abdomen and pelvis in the accident and spent several hours in surgery when he was admitted to Whipps Cross Hospital in London.
Harvey’s manager, Simon Harrison, said that Brian had responded to his name when he regained consciousness and said that this was a “good sign” in terms of his recovery.
Harvey, who recently appeared in the reality TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ is reported to have been suffering from depression in recent months. His grandmother died just before he joined ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ and he quit the show shortly after receiving the news.
He is also alleged to have made two attempts at suicide recently. However, Mr Harrison stressed that Tuesday’s events were a “freak accident”.
