Teenager killed in holiday jet ski accident

A police investigation is underway following the death of a British teenage girl in a holiday jet ski tragedy in Cyprus.

Hannah Sutton, 16, a boarding school pupil from Manchester was killed when her boyfriend, James Dudley, also 16, apparently lost control of the jet ski he was riding and rode over her, off the island’s Pissouri beach.

The couple were both taken to Limassol General Hospital where Hannah later died. Mr Dudley suffered slight injuries in the accident.

Ms Sutton and Mr Dudley had been visiting her mother, Lynn, who teaches at a school near the British military base in Cyprus. Her mother is understood to have seen the accident happen from the beach.

British officials are still trying to trace Hannah’s father in Manchester.

Cypriot police are due to question Mr Dudley on possible manslaughter charges.

They will also try to establish whether the jet skis were hired out illegally – the minimum age to drive jet skis is 18.
