Charles and Camilla to tour the US
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are to pay an official visit to the USA early next month, Clarence House has announced.
The visit, the Prince’s first official tour of the USA for over ten years, will include engagements in New York, Washington DC and San Francisco.
The Royal couple will also meet with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and attend a lunch and dinner with President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, at the White House.
In a statement, Clarence House said that the visit would “highlight some of the many links, which bind the two countries together and have done for many years.”
The purpose of the visit will focus on the importance of the economic relationship between Britain and the US, the statement said, as well as the range of cultural, environmental and community links between the two nations.
Sustainability, in areas such as housing, education, farming and food sourcing, would also be another important theme of the tour, Clarence House added.
The Prince last visited the USA to attend the funeral of former President Ronald Reagan in Washington last June.
