E-fit released in model murder

Police have released an e-fit image (pictured top) of the man wanted in connection with the murder of teenage model Sally Anne Bowman (pictured bottom).

Sally Anne, 18, was sexually assaulted and stabbed to death in the early hours of September 25, just yards from her home in Croydon, south London.

Police later confirmed that forensic evidence found at the scene was linked to another sexual assault, which took place in nearby Purley, Surrey, in 2001.

It is now believed the murderer may be a serial sex attacker, who has carried out several attacks in the area.

Another woman was also attacked close to where Sally Anne was murdered, just an hour before the attack. The woman was hit over the head with a metal object and robbed. Police believe the same man may be responsible for both attacks.

The attacker was described as white, between 5ft 9 and 6ft in height, in his twenties or thirties and of medium build with short brown hair.

Police have also issued a photograph of Sally Anne on a recent holiday in Kos, wearing the same outfit she was wearing on the night she died – a white corset top and a blue denim mini skirt with a white belt.

The images have been released ahead of an appeal by police on BBC One’s ‘Crimewatch’ show, which will be shown tonight at 9pm.
