Baby Charlotte ruling lifted
The parents of severely brain-damaged baby, Charlotte Wyatt, have won the right for her to be resuscitated if she falls ill.
Mr Justice Hedley reversed the previous decision, which allowed doctors not to resuscitate Charlotte if she stopped breathing, at the High Court on Friday.
The decision coincides with Charlotte’s second birthday.
A high court judge today ruled that profoundly disabled girl, Charlotte Wyatt, could be resuscitated if she suffers an emergency health problem.
Charlotte’s parents, Darren and Debbie Wyatt, said that they were “very happy” that the ban had been lifted.
However, the victory is only a partial one – both Charlotte’s parents and her doctors will have to agree on subsequent treatment for her.
Announcing his decision, Mr Justice Hedley said: "I hope that the trust and confidence of which both Dr K (Charlotte's consultant, who cannot be named for legal reasons) and the parents spoke can now develop with a view to securing the best for Charlotte, whether in life or death.”
Charlotte suffers from serious brain, lung and kidney damage and has not left St Mary’s hospital in Portsmouth since she was born, three months prematurely.
Charlotte was only five inches long and weighed only 1lb when she was born and she was not expected to survive.
However, Charlotte’s parents say that she has improved considerably and now responds to them.

Two Arrested During Search For Missing Brothers
Two people have been arrested by police searching for three brothers missing since Monday. It is now known that the brothers, Remus (15), Janko (12) and David (10), caught a train to Newcastle while their foster parents thought they were out for a bike ride on Monday evening. The brothers were seen on CCTV leaving Newcastle's Central Station.

Police Report Missing Teen Found 'Safe And Well'
Police have reported that a missing 15-year-old girl has been found "safe and well". At the time of her disappearance Ella Hysom, from Colchester, Essex, had been receiving treatment for depression at a hospital in Goodmayes, east London. She had been reported missing on Monday, having been last seen in Ilford, east London.
