Police name Beshenivsky shooting suspects

Police hunting the killers of PC Sharon Beshenivsky have named the three main suspects they wish to question.

The prime suspects are Mustaf Jama, 25, from the north Kensington area of London, his brother Yusuf Jama, 19, from the same area, and Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah, 24, who was born in Burnley, but is believed to have lived in the London area for the past four years.

PC Beshenivsky, a 38-year-old mother-of-three, was shot dead by armed robbers as she answered a call at a travel agency in Bradford last Friday. Her colleague, PC Theresa Milburn, 37, was also wounded in the shoulder.

At a briefing in Bradford today, Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan revealed the movements of the three suspects and the vehicle believed to have been used as the getaway car.

He said: "Immediately after the events at the travel agents three men were seen running to a silver vehicle which was parked in Howard Street. We believe this vehicle is the Toyota Rav 4 registered number WP05 YTT.

"We have trawled through many hours of CCTV and have a number of sightings of the vehicle on November 18th. This includes a sighting of the vehicle travelling along Morley Street just after 3pm, only minutes before the events at the travel agents.

"The vehicle was later seen travelling along Manchester Road, out of Bradford city centre, in the general direction of the motorway network at 3.41pm.

"We are appealing for any information in relation to the vehicle on November 18th and its occupants.”

Detective Brennan said that there was no indication that any of the three suspects had left the country and said it was possible that they might still be in the London area.

At a remembrance service on Friday afternoon, a two-minute silence was held in Bradford’s Centenary Square at 3:30pm to mark a week since the killing of PC Beshenivsky.

Five men arrested last weekend were released earlier this week by police, pending further inquiries. An 18-year-old woman who was also arrested was later released without charge.

Anyone with any information about the shooting of PC Beshenivsky or the three suspects is asked to contact police on 01274 373700.
