Brady sends letter to victim's mother

The mother of Moors murder victim Keith Bennett has given an interview telling of her shock at receiving a letter from his killer, Ian Brady.

Winnie Bennett, 72, told Sky News that the letter was a shock. She said: "He knows a lot more than what he is saying. He's admitted he can take police within 20 yards of where he buried Keith, so that man's not insane, and they just ignored him.

"Why should they ignore a thing like that? It's a human life that's gone 41 years ago and I have had hell since he's been gone."

In the letter, which was dated December 21, 2005, Brady, 68, reportedly complained about his treatment at the high-security Ashworth hospital in Liverpool.

He is also believed to have said that he was bring kept alive by force-feeding for "political purposes".

Brady also did not refer to Keith by name, but stressed the "clarity" of his recollections.

Twelve-year-old Keith was murdered by Brady and his girlfriend, Myra Hindley and is believed to be buried on Saddleworth Moor in Manchester.

The bodies of the couple's other victims have since been discovered.

Mrs Bennett told Sky News that she had written to Brady several times, attempting to get him to help find Keith's body, but had never had any response.

Brady and Hindley were jailed for life in 1966, following a two-year killing spree, which left five children and teenagers dead.

Hindley died in prison in 2002, from a chest infection after suffering a heart attack.

Brady has campaigned to be allowed to starve himself to death, without success.
