Wembley workers in talks over pay
Contractors involved in the building of the new Wembley Stadium are holding talks following a pay dispute.
Steelworkers, scaffolders and welders were told on Tuesday that they would be laid off next week because two subcontractors had not been paid.
Union officials have requested meetings with managers after the talks so that they can tell members what is happening.
Tom Kelly, National Officer of the GMB union, said: "We need to be told by Thursday what is happening because we are seriously committed to finishing the Wembley project.
"We have instructed our members to carry on working normally until we have an opportunity to resolve the matter.
"The stadium is not finished and someone will have to employ our members to finish the job."
The construction of the new £757 million Wembley Stadium, which is being carried out by Australian firm Multiplex, has been hit by numerous delays and problems. The original handover date was autumn 2005, but this was moved back to January 31, 2006 and then March 31.
It was then announced that this year's FA Cup final would be played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff after it emerged that the new stadium might not be ready on time.
Last week, more than 3,000 workers had to be evacuated from the stadium after a rafter dropped from the roof.

More delays for Wembley Stadium
The completion of the new Wembley Stadium looks likely to be delayed even further, the construction firm working on the project has announced. Australian firm Multiplex said that it did not expect that construction work on the £757 million stadium would be finished until after September.

A man has pleaded guilty to the fatal assault of another man outside Wembley Stadium in September. Ian Mytton, 41, of Gateley Close, Redditch, Worcestershire, appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, charged with manslaughter of 44-year-old Michael Dye outside Wembley Stadium on September 6.

Wembley Stadium 'unlikely to open until June 2007'
The opening of the new Wembley Stadium looks set to be delayed until June 2007. The venue had been due to be completed by August 2005, but construction has been hit by a series of delays, which resulted in this year's FA Cup Final being moved to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
