CCTV records mugger kicking woman in head
Police have released CCTV footage of a mugger kicking a female student in the head as he robbed her of a mobile phone.
Twenty-year-old student Rebecca Glover was attacked in the car park at the Fishergate centre on Butler Street, Preston on April 20. She was heading to her boyfriend's home after finishing her part-time waitressing job.
A man approached her from behind as Rebecca spoke to her boyfriend on her mobile phone. She told the 'Daily Mirror': "I really panicked when I saw this guy go for me. He was grinning when he walked up to me, as though he found it funny.
The guy grabbed me roughly and the next thing I knew, I was on the ground.
"I remember being kicked in the head. I feared for my life. He could have done anything."
Rebecca suffered bruising to her head, but did not require medical attention.
Following the attack, the mugger went back across the car park and got into a car, believed to be a dark coloured Fiat Punto.
The attacker is described as being aged between 18 - 22 and stocky, with a shaved head. He was wearing blue/black jeans and a white polo shirt or jumper with a large stripe across the chest and number 28 on the back.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said that Rebecca has been subjected to a "nasty assault" and said: "We would urge people to walk in lit areas and, on their way home, not to walk along and to be careful when they are using their mobile phones."
