Dead baby found in river

The body of a young baby has been found in a river near Stratford.

Police were called around 8pm on Thursday night, after a member of the public walking in the area reported finding a body in the River Alne.

The baby's body, which was in a white plastic bag in shallow water, was recovered by police.

An inquiry has been launched and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Friday.

Warwickshire Police said that the body was possibly that of a newborn baby, but said that they could not confirm any further details until the post-mortem and further medical examinations had been completed.

Police in Cardiff have reportedly recovered the body of a newborn baby from the River Taff. It is understood that South Wales Police were called to the scene at about 18:00 on Tuesday. The scene has been sealed and an investigation is underway. Police have appealed for information.

Pregnant Woman Attacked In Essex
A pregnant woman has been attacked with a baseball bat and a knife at her home in Basildon, Essex. The 22-year-old woman, who was in labour, was getting ready to leave her home with her partner to go to the hospital when a gang raided her home. She was hit with a baseball bat and slashed with a knife.
