World Cup banning orders put in place
Orders banning over 3,000 known football hooligans from travelling to the World Cup in Germany have come into effect.
The orders have been taken out against 3,286 individuals who all should have received a letter ordering them to surrender their passports to police on Tuesday.
If they fail to do so they could face six months in prison or a fine of up to £5,000.
The individuals will also require those people to report to police stations when England are playing.
England's opening group match is on June 10 against Paraguay, while the other two group matches are on June 15 and June 20.
Four Crown Prosecution Service lawyers are also being sent to Germany in order to liaise with local courts if any England football supporters are charged with football-related offences.
West Midlands Chief Prosecutor David Blundell said that anyone travelling to Germany who was convicted of any football-related offences could expect to be subjected to the banning orders when they returned home.
He said: "We'll be looking at the German procedure right from the police station to the court, getting the documentation, sending it back to this country... in anticipation of people returning from the World Cup."
