British soldiers killed in Iraq
Two British soldiers have been killed in a bomb attack near Basra in southern Iraq, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.
The soldiers died following an attack on a British patrol near the town of Ad Dayr, north of Basra City on Monday.
The MoD said that the patrol has been subject to an attack by a roadside bomb and small arms fire.
One other British soldier was seriously injured in the same attack, while another soldier also suffered minor injuries. Both were evacuated for emergency medical care and were taken by helicopter to a British field hospital at Shaibah Logistics Base.
The news followed the announcement that a British soldier had been killed in Afghanistan on Monday.
The soldier was killed when a UK military convoy was attacked by a suspected suicide bomber in Kabul at around 10:30 am local time.
Another soldier is reported to have been very seriously injured in the same attack, while another two soldiers are also reported to have been injured.
Four other people are also reported to have been killed.
Fourteen military personnel died in Afghanistan when the Nimrod MR2 they were travelling in crashed.
At present, it is believed that the cause of the crash was a technical fault, but an inquiry is now underway.

Three British soldiers killed in Afghanistan
Three British soldiers have been killed in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. A fourth soldier was seriously injured. The MoD said that the troops were part of the 4,000-strong Nato-led International Security Assistance Force on patrol in the volatile Helmand Province around 0630 GMT when they were attacked.

The soldier, from 1st Battalion The Light Infantry, died following an attack on a Multi National Force base in Basra City. A mortar round exploded within the perimeter of the base at around 0300 local time, the MoD said.
