Teenager arrested over street stabbing
Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman in a street in south London have arrested a 17-year-old youth, it has been reported.
Carmelita Tulloch, 51, was stabbed to death, in what was described by police as a "frenzied" attack, on Tuesday morning as she walked to work in Vauxhall, south London.
According to reports, the 17-year-old youth is believed to have turned up voluntarily at a police station on Wednesday and was arrested by police officers.
Mrs Tulloch, who had two daughters and a granddaughter, was pronounced dead at the scene in Wickham Street, just five minutes from her home.
Police said that the weapon was not found at the scene, but Mrs Tulloch's handbag was found by her side, with the contents apparently intact.
Police are investigating whether the attack was unprovoked, an attempted mugging which went wrong or whether Mrs Tulloch knew her attacker.
