Corfu couple return to Britain

The father of two children who died from carbon monoxide while on holiday in Corfu has returned to the UK with his girlfriend.

Neil Shepherd, 38, and Ruth Beaston, 27, were seriously ill after being overcome by gas fumes at their holiday bungalow at the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel last week.

However, Mr Shepherd's two children - Christianne, 7, and Robert, 6 - died in the hotel on October 26.

It is believed that the fumes came from a faulty boiler or air-conditioning system.

The bodies of the children were brought back to the UK on Monday, along with their mother, Sharon Wood, 35, who had flown to Corfu to identify the bodies.

Greek authorities suspended the permit of the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel on Tuesday.

Tourism Minister Fanni Palli-Petralia said that the hotel could lose its permit permanently if the police investigation found that the hotel were liable for the deaths.
