Children were 'asphyxiated'

Two children who were found dead at their home in Bodelwyddan, north Wales, died from asphyxiation, it has been revealed.

The bodies of Caitlin Samuel, five, and her three-year-old brother Aidan, were found at the property in Coronation Close in the village just before 11pm on Sunday night.

They were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where they were later pronounced dead.

Police confirmed that the children's father - named locally as Perry Samuel, 35 - was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

The deadline to continue questioning him ran out on Tuesday, but has been extended.

North Wales Police have not revealed details of how the children died, but said that they were neither drowned nor strangled.
