Paedophile jailed for abusing daughters

A father has been jailed for ten years for abusing his two daughters more than 15 years ago.

Philip Tilston, 42, from Stretford in Greater Manchester had been found guilty of indecently assaulting Kelly and Emma Barton, now aged 22 and 21, between 1988 and 1992.

The two women had waived their right to anonymity to testify against their father.

Tilston was sentenced to four-and-a-half years for eight counts of indecently assaulting Kelly and four-and-a-half years for seven counts of indecently assaulting Emma.

Tilston was also found guilty of indecently assaulting another teenager girl who asked to remain anonymous. He was sentenced to 12 months for this assault.

The sentences will be served consecutively.

At sentencing at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, Judge Adrian Smith said that the offences committed by Tilston against his daughters were "depraved" and represented "a terrible breach of trust".
