Severe gales set to return to the UK

The Met Office has warned that severe gales, with winds gusting over 80mph, are likely to hit Britain this week.

The bad weather is likely to strike on Wednesday night and into Thursday, when severe gales are forecast to affect many areas.

The strongest winds are likely to occur over much of England and Wales, bringing the potential for more disruption.

Much colder weather is also forecast for the weekend, with much lower temperatures and the threat of snow for northern and eastern areas of Britain, before drier, brighter and frosty weather sets in for next week.

The public are advised to keep up to date with the latest weather information from the Met Office web-site at: www.metoffice.gov.uk
