PM's Aide arrested in cash for honours probe

One of the Prime Minister's senior aides has been arrested by police as part of the probe into alleged cash for honours.

Director of Government Relations Ruth Turner was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Arrested at her London home, she was later released on bail without being charged.

Police investigating the allegations of cash for honours have arrested around 90 people for questioning during the course of the inquiry.

No formal charges have yet been made.

The inquiry was sparked after it emerged that the Labour Party had a number of undisclosed loans prior to the general election.

Some lenders had subsequently been nominated for honours.

The inquiry has since been extended to include all the main political parties.
