Police granted more time in baby death case

Police investigating the suspected murder of a 17-month-old baby have been granted more time to continue questioning four suspects.

Hugo Wang was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary on Thursday evening, suffering from serious head injuries. He was later transferred to the children's hospital but died on Friday evening.

A post-mortem confirmed that he died from a head injury.

Two men, aged 28 and 38, and two women, aged 27 and 28, were arrested at an address in Lower Broughton in Salford four hours after Hugo was admitted to hospital.

All four remain in custody and are now being held on suspicion of murder. Police can now continue to question them until Monday evening.

It is believed that none of the four are Hugo's parents and their exact relationship to the child is still unknown.
