Samaritans hold out for 'destress' day
A study has claimed that one in three people in the UK has turned to alcohol to relieve stress.
The report from the Samaritans says that a record number are comforting themselves with drink as people find themselves so wound up that they cannot sleep properly.
The charity said that five million people are "extremely stressed" by work and that drinking in an attempt to relieve stress has increased from a fifth to one third in three years.
The Samaritans has launched a 'Stress Down Day' to raise awareness of the problem of stress in the workplace.
People are being urged to turn up in slippers, switch off their emails in a bid to 'destress' and contribute £2 to the Samaritans.
