Holiday camp staff win pay refund
Following a Court of Appeal ruling, staff at Butlins and Haven holiday camps are to gain a rebate.
The company, owned by Leisure Employment Services, had been brought to the attention of HM Revenue and Customs as they had charged staff for gas and electricity when they were living on-site.
In his ruling Lord Justice Buxton said that the sum deducted from low paid workers had reduced their remuneration to below that of the minimum wage.
A company spokesperson said that the few hundred workers affected between 2004 and 2005 would be contacted and offered "full recompense".
