Reality TV star escapes jail sentence

'Wife Swap' star Lizzy Bardsley has escaped a jail sentence after being found guilty of child cruelty charges.

Bardsley, 33, from Rochdale, was found guilty in January of three charges of wilful assault of a child under 16, as well as one count of wilful ill treatment.

All the offences related to one child, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Bardsley had denied the charges.

At Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, Bardsley was given an eight-month suspended sentence and a two-year supervision order.

Bardsley, who has eight children, became famous following her notorious loud-mouthed appearance on 'Wife Swap', where two women swap lifestyles and look after each other's families while living in each other's houses.
