Bus crash women named

Two women who died after being hit by a bus in Cheshire on Monday have been named.

Jenny Webb, 83, and her daughter Jean Webb, 53, were struck by the bus as they were crossing Mobberly Road in Knutsford around 8:45am on Monday morning.

The single decker 288 Arriva bus, which was travelling between Altrincham and Knutsford was carrying 12 passengers, including schoolchildren, at the time, but no-one on board was hurt.

Early eyewitness reports had indicated that the bus had mounted the pavement before hitting the women, but police later said that the bus did not leave the road.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
