Madonna denies adoption

Madonna's spokeswoman has denied that she had any plans to adopt a second Malawian child.

The 48-year-old star sparked a furore when she adopted one-year-old David Banda last year.

Her spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said: "Madonna is going to Africa to continue her work with Raising Malawi Organisation. She is overseeing the building of a healthcare centre. She is absolutely not adopting another baby."

Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie secured a temporary 18-month custody order from the Malawi courts and hope to adopt him formally.

Adoption experts said the couple would have undergone rigorous checks before being allowed to adopt. (CD/JM)
