Teenager charged with tram stop murder

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 45-year-old man who was attacked at a tram stop in Sheffield.

Colin Greenwood was attacked at Middlewood Road tram stop in Sheffield on Friday evening and collapsed as he got off the bus on Southey Green Road, Parson Cross, just over an hour later.

He died from a head injury at the Northern General Hospital on Saturday.

Police are continuing to question another 14-year-old boy from Middlewood on suspicion of murder.

A 36-year-old man from the same area was arrested on Monday on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice, but he has now been released on police bail.

A 17-year-old arrested earlier in the investigation has been released without charge.

Police are still appealing for witnesses in connection with the case. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at Ecclesfield on: 0114 2964515.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

Riot Police Deployed As G8 Protesters Occupy Former Police Station
Some 100 riot police have been deployed in central London as protestors take to the streets to demonstrate ahead on the G8 summit being held in Northern Ireland next week. Officers were sent to Soho, where protesters are thought to have occupied a former police station on Beak Street.
