Hugh Grant wins libel damages over claim

Actor Hugh Grant has accepted undisclosed libel damages from Associated Newspapers over claims made about the end of his relationship with Jemima Khan.

The legal action was sparked by claims made in the 'Daily Mail' and 'Mail On Sunday', which alleged that the 46-year-old's relationship with Ms Khan was destroyed because of Grant's flirtation with a film executive and his conduct over former girlfriend Liz Hurley's wedding.

Grant was not at London's High Court for the settlement. His solicitor Simon Smith said that none of the allegations had been put to the actor before publication and he said that they were false.

Associated Newspapers have offered apologies to Grant and agreed not to repeat the allegations. They will also reimburse his legal costs.

It is understood that Grant plans to donate the damages to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
