Suspicious death at West Yorkshire railway station

A railway station in West Yorkshire has been closed following the discovery of a man's body in the car park.

Police were called to Fitzwilliam Train Station at Fitzwilliam in Pontefract just before 1:45am where the body was found.

The man was taken to Pontefract General Infirmary where he was pronounced dead. The death is being treated as suspicious.

Two males were arrested at the scene in connection with the death and are currently in custody.

The main Leeds to London rail line was closed for two hours while investigations took place. The train station has been closed and will remain closed while the scene is examined. However, the line has since re-opened.

Post Mortem Due On TV Presenter's Body
A post mortem is due to be carried out today on the body of TV presenter Mark Speight, who was found dead in Paddington Railway Station at the weekend. The 42-year-old had not been seen since April 7. He was found hanging on the roof of MacMillan House, a building next to Paddington Railway Station, on Sunday morning by Network Rail staff.

UK Troops Get Boost To Personal Protection
British troops fighting in the frontline are to receive new body armour and helmets this autumn, it has been announced. Over 10,000 sets of the enhanced Mark 7 helmet and the Osprey Assault body armour have been ordered from companies across the UK, under initial contracts worth around £16 million.

Alton Towers Remains Closed Following Accident
Alton Towers remains closed today, 3 June, following an incident on one of its attractions on Tuesday. At around 2pm yesterday, two carriages crashed on a low section of track on the theme park's The Smiler rollercoaster. Sixteen passengers were on the ride at the time, some of which were trapped for four-and-a-half hours.

Fire Closes Oxfordshire Shopping Outlet
A fire has broken out at the Bicester Village shopping outlet in Oxfordshire. The blaze started at around 8.45am this morning it is understood. Seven fire crews are currently at the scene as they try to extinguish the fire. It is thought the blaze broke out at Carluccio's restaurant on the site. Its roof has been destroyed.
