Man Slits Own Throat In Woolworths

A man has died after slitting his throat with a Stanley knife in a Woolworths store in Cornwall.

The incident happened in the store in Penzance shortly after 3pm on Thursday. The man, believed to be in his twenties, entered the store and began slashing himself with a knife.

Staff cleared customers from the store and police and ambulance services were alerted.

However, by the time the ambulance crew arrived, the man had already died.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance said: "Unfortunately the man died within minutes."

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said that the incident had been "horrific" for everyone watching.

The man has not yet been identified. The store remained closed on Friday.
