Motorist Jailed For Driving At 172mph

The fastest ever motorist to be caught speeding in Britain has been jailed for 10 weeks for driving at 172mph.

Timothy Brady, 33, of Harrow in northwest London, had pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Oxford Crown Court last month. He had denied one charge of aggravated vehicle taking.

The court had heard how Brady had taken a £98,000 3.6 litre Porsche 911 Turbo from car lease firm Helphire in Abingdon, where he worked. He was then clocked doing 172mph in a 70mph zone on the A420 in Oxfordshire on January 27.

He resigned from his job days after the incident.

At Oxford Crown Court on Monday, Brady was jailed for ten weeks, banned from driving for three years and ordered to pay £474 in costs.
