Beckham's Father Suffers Heart Attack

Footballer David Beckham's father has suffered a heart attack, a spokesperson has confirmed.

The former England captain, who now plays for LA Galaxy, returned to the UK from Los Angeles today, arriving at Heathrow at lunchtime.

Ted Beckham, 59, of Chingford in east London, was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone on Wednesday night after complaining of chest pains.

He was then transferred to the London Chest Hospital, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an address on Hampton Road at 9:20pm last night.

"We sent an ambulance and a fast response car. One patient was taken to hospital."

Mr Beckham, whose first name is also David, is known as Ted from his middle name of Edward. He is divorced from David's mother, Sandra. The couple also have a daughter called Joanne.

Father and son were reported to have fallen out over the book 'David Beckham: My Son', which was published in 2005, but they have since reconciled.

Beckham moved to the US in the summer after joining LA Galaxy from Spanish club Real Madrid.

Beckham's spokesperson confirmed that his wife, Victoria, was working in Japan, but had been informed of the situation and was "concerned". It was later reported that she was cutting short her trip to Japan and will join her husband in the UK on Friday.
