London Police Step Up Patrols After Fatal Shooting

Police patrols are to be increased in London following a fatal shooting.

The 18-year-old victim, who was sitting in a silver Ford Fiesta in Long Walk in Plumstead when he was killed, has now been named as Philip Poru.

Two gunmen opened fire on the vehicle at around 11pm on Sunday, killing Mr Poru and wounding another 18-year-old who was in the car with the victim.

A post-mortem confirmed that Mr Poru died of gunshot wounds to the chest. His friend was also injured in the shooting and is reportedly in a stable condition in hospital.

Operation Trident, the Metropolitan Police's unit that investigates gun crime in London's black community, is investigating the incident. The gunmen are believed to be black males.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident so far.

Man Arrested After Five-Year-Old Is Injured In Shooting Incident
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a five-year-old boy. The child was shot and seriously injured at his home in Essex. The boy has been taken to the Royal London Hospital at around 13.20 on Sunday. His injuries are believed to be serious but not life threatening.

Arrests Follow Edmonton Murder
Police investigating the murder of 15-year old Negus McLean in Edmonton have today made a further two arrests. A 14-year old boy, and a 16-year old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody. Police were called at 7.25pm on Sunday 10 April to reports of a stabbing in Westminster Road, north London.

Teenager Killed In South London Shooting
Police have reported the death of a teenager in a shooting in south London. According to reports police responded to reports of an injured man in Coppock Close in Battersea at around 19:51. A 19-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

London Police Probe Deadly Shooting
Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a murder in Westminster. Police were called at just after midnight on Saturday 22 May to reports of a man shot in Harrow Road, near the junction with Sutherland Avenue, W9. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and discovered a man suffering a gunshot wound.

Police hunt 'bike gang' behind London shooting
Police are continuing their search for a gang of youths responsible for the shooting of a 16-year-old youth in south London. The teenager was found outside Cassell House in Stockwell in the early hours of Thursday morning by police officers who were called to the scene following reports that shots had been fired.
