Drug Offences Increase
The number of drug offences in England and Wales increased by 14% in the second quarter of this year, the latest figures from the Home Office have revealed.
The figures showed that there were 55,000 drug crimes from April to June, an increase from 48,300 during the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the British Crime Survey showed that overall crime in England and Wales had remained stable for the year ending in June.
However, recorded crime levels fell by 7%, according to the quarterly police recorded crime statistics. There were nearly 21,000 fewer violent crimes recorded by police between April and June 2007 compared with the same quarter in 2006.
Firearms offences also dropped by 6% in the year to the end of June. However, the number of fatalities arising from firearms offences increased from 53 to 56.

Nearly 200 crimes missed by DNA failings
Nearly 200 crimes went undetected due to failings over DNA samples, it has been revealed. The failure to archive DNA evidence resulted in 183 crimes going undetected, including one paedophile offence, three robberies, nine burglaries, 19 drugs offences and 62 thefts, the National DNA Database annual report revealed.

Figures reports rise in violent crime
Violent crime is on the rise, police figures have revealed, increasing by 9% in the last three months of 2004. However, overall crime fell compared with the same period last year, with the total number of crimes recorded by police in England and Wales in the last quarter falling by 5% to 1,381,400.

41-Year-Old Man Jailed For Child Sexual Abuse
A 41-year-old man has been jailed for four years after pleading guilty to a number of child sex abuse offences at Blackfriars Crown Court. Allan Wright, from Surbiton, was charged with seven offences in July 2014, including arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and making and distributing an indecent image of a child.

A 47-year-old British man has been jailed in the US after admitting child sex offences. Richard Castle, of Northampton, was jailed for 16 years after he admitting to coercing a minor, travelling with intent to engage in illicit sexual contact with a minor and transferring obscene sexual contact to the same minor.
