Appeal To Clubbers Over London Shooting

Police investigating the fatal shooting of a man in south London on Monday morning have appealed for revellers who attended a nearby nightclub to come forward.

Gary Guthrie, 35, was shot in Streatham High Road around 5:20am on Monday. He was taken to hospital, but was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem later revealed that he died from a bullet wound to the chest.

A second man, also aged in his thirties, was also injured in the same shooting. He was also taken to hospital suffering from gunshot wounds and his condition is now described as comfortable.

According to reports, police believe the shooting may be linked to an incident, which occurred in the Starlight Rooms. It is understood that the two men who were shot had been attending a birthday party in the club before the attack took place.

Police have not commented on how many weapons were used in the shooting, but it is understood that a large number of bullet casings were found on the ground at the scene, close to Streatham Railway Station.

A silver handgun was also recovered from the scene and it will undergo ballistics tests.
