Return To Work For Maddie’s Dad
Missing Madeleine McCann's father Gerry has returned to work nearly six months after his daughter's disappearance.
Mr McCann, a consultant cardiologist at Leicester's Glenfield Hospital, is to resume his duties by working three half days a week.
Madeleine, four, of Rothley, vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Portugal on 3 May.
Mr McCann said he was pleased to be returning to work and was very grateful for all the support he had received.
"Everything that we could have done personally, I think we have done. We've got an infrastructure and support system behind us now.
"And to be honest, unless Madeleine is found we're not expecting any developments in the near future."
He added the family wanted to "get back to some sort of normality".
Doug Skehan, clinical director at Glenfield Hospital, said he was confident Mr McCann was ready to return to work.
He said: "We have seen the very great distress and pressure that Gerry and Kate have had to endure and have been very impressed with Gerry's composure and dignity.
"As with anyone who has had a long leave of absence, the return to work has to be carefully judged and phased. I think Gerry's medical family will welcome him back warmly and compassionately."
Mr McCann will be working half days and will not have direct contact with patients - carrying out academic work and MRI scans - until both he and his employers feel he is ready.
Kate McCann has a job as a part-time GP in Melton Mowbray but as yet has no plans to return to work.

The proposed reform, known as Community Work Programme, would see young people not in work, education or training, required to complete daily work experience, alongside continuing to look for work in order to qualify for benefits.

Madeleine's parents visit holy shrine
The parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann have made a pilgrimage to Portugal's holiest site to pray for the four-year-old's safe return. Gerry and Kate McCann travelled to Fatima, home of the Marian shrine, in what is expected to be the first of several visits across Europe in order to raise awareness of their daughter's abduction.

Kate McCann To Be Formal Suspect
Kate McCann has returned to a Portuguese police station, where she is expected to be declared a formal suspect in the disappearance of her daughter. A large crowd gathered and shouted at Mrs McCann, 39, as she arrived for further questioning. Some people were showing their support for Mrs McCann, however there was also jeers from the crowd.

Gerry McCann rejoined his wife Kate and their two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie following the visit to the UK. On Tuesday, the couple told reporters that they would "travel wherever is necessary" in order to find Madeleine.
