Compensation For Stuart Lubbock's Father

The father of Stuart Lubbock, who was found dead in a swimming pool in the former home of entertainer Michael Barrymore, has been awarded £6,800 in criminal injuries compensation over the death.

Terry Lubbock will also receive £1,300 for funeral costs.

Stuart, 31, was one of a number of guests at a party at Mr Barrymore's former home in Roydon, Essex in March 2001. He died from injuries sustained at the party. A post-mortem found that he had suffered severe internal injuries, suggesting sexual assault, and also found ecstasy, cocaine and alcohol in his bloodstream.

Mr Barrymore has been told that he will not face charges in connection with Mr Lubbock's death. He accepted a police caution for drugs offences.

Commenting on the decision by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority on Tuesday, Terry Lubbock told reporters that he was "delighted" by the news. He said: "I'll put the money into the fighting fund for Stuart. I am determined that I will get justice for my son and that's what the money will be used for."
