Amy Winehouse Nominated For Six Grammys

British singer Amy Winehouse has been nominated for six awards at the 50th Grammy Awards in the US.

The 24-year-old's nominations include a nod in the best newcomer category, as well as inclusions in the best album and best song categories, for her album 'Back to Black' and the hit single 'Rehab'.

The nominations round off what has been a fantastic year for Winehouse professionally, but her private life has been in turmoil.

The troubled star was recently forced to cancel her UK tour, following a series of shambolic gigs and there have been many stories in the media speculating about her health and personal life.

The singer has also had to deal with the added heartbreak of being separated from her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who is being held in custody after allegedly attempting to bribe a barman he is accused of assaulting.

Winehouse was only beaten in the nominations by US rapper Kanye West, who was nominated for eight awards, including a nod for best album for 'Graduation'.

West has also suffered problems this year, having had to deal with the death of his mother, after she developed complications following surgery. Last month, the rapper broke down on stage at London's O2 after performing a song about his mother.

Five other acts - rock band the Foo Fighters, rappers Jay-Z and Timbaland, hip-hop singer-songwriter T-Pain and singer Justin Timberlake - all received five nominations.

The awards will be held in Los Angeles on February 10.
